πŸš€ Getting started

How do I add my first product?

Three methods are available from the Fridge screen:

  • Scan barcode β€” tap the icon in the top right, point at the code, FreshBox fills everything automatically (name, photo, Nutri-Score).
  • Scan receipt β€” "receipt" button, our AI recognizes all items at once.
  • Manual β€” "+" button to enter name, date and category yourself.
How do I enable expiration notifications?

On first launch, FreshBox asks for permission. If you declined it:

  • Go to iPhone Settings β†’ Notifications β†’ FreshBox and enable the option.
  • In FreshBox, open the Profile β†’ Notifications tab to choose the alert delay (1 to 7 days before expiration).
The widget isn't displaying correctly

If your products or lists aren't updating on the widget:

  • Open FreshBox once to force the sync.
  • Long-press the widget β†’ "Edit Widget" β†’ check it points to the right account.
  • If the issue persists, delete the widget and add it again.

The barcode doesn't work

FreshBox uses OpenFoodFacts, a collaborative database covering millions of products, but not 100%. If a product isn't recognized:

  • Add it manually with the "+" button.
  • You can contribute to OpenFoodFacts via their dedicated app so it gets recognized next time.
The receipt scan doesn't recognize all items

The receipt scan uses AI that may make mistakes on wrinkled, poorly lit receipts or uncommon stores. Tips:

  • Photograph the receipt flat, on a plain background, with good lighting.
  • Check the result and correct/remove erroneous lines before confirming.
  • Non-food items are automatically ignored.

πŸ‘¨Household & sharing

How do I share my fridge with my family?

In the Profile β†’ Household tab:

  • Create a household (the creator doesn't need to share anything β€” they invite).
  • Share the 6-character code with the members.
  • Each person opens the app, goes to Household and enters the code to join.

Products, shopping lists and stats sync in real time.

My household code is invalid

Check that:

  • The code has exactly 6 characters (letters and digits).
  • It was created recently β€” codes expire after 7 days.
  • The household creator is still active (otherwise they need to generate a new code).
How do I keep a product private in a shared household?

When adding a product, check the "Private" option. It will only be visible to you, even if you're in a shared household. Ideal for personal tastes or surprises.

What happens when a member leaves the household?

Products they added to the household stay in the shared fridge (with their name indicated). Their "Private" products disappear with them. Their personal stats are kept on their account.

How does the 7-day free trial work?

Your first subscription starts with 7 days free. You'll only be charged on the 8th day. You can cancel at any time from iPhone Settings β†’ your name β†’ Subscriptions, at no cost.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Cancellation happens directly through Apple, not in FreshBox:

  • Open iPhone Settings.
  • Tap your name at the top β†’ Subscriptions.
  • Select FreshBox Premium β†’ Cancel.

You keep access until the end of the paid period.

I switched iPhones, how do I recover my subscription?

Sign in with the same Apple account and open FreshBox β†’ Profile β†’ Premium β†’ "Restore Purchase". Your data comes back automatically.

Can I share Premium with my family?

Yes, FreshBox Premium is compatible with Apple Family Sharing. Enable it in iPhone Settings β†’ Family β†’ Purchase Sharing. Up to 5 additional members can use the subscription.

Is my data sold to third parties?

No, never. No personal data is ever sold or used for advertising. See our privacy policy for details.

How do I delete my account?

In FreshBox β†’ Profile β†’ Delete account. All your data (products, lists, household, stats) is permanently erased from our servers within 30 days.

If you can't access the app, email us at support@jeancyit.fr.

Where is my data stored?

Your data is hosted on Firebase (Google Cloud), in European data centers compliant with GDPR. AI recipes are generated by Google Gemini without storing your prompts.

  • iPhone model and iOS version
  • FreshBox version (Profile β†’ About)
  • Description of the issue and steps to reproduce it
  • Screenshots if possible
